Choosing the Right Photographer for a Model Portfolio:
A model should never choose a photographer based on price. Just because a photographer is willing to shoot a model for close to free it does not make them a great photographer. Great photographers know the cost of their labor and will price themselves accordingly. On the other hand just because a photographer is expensive does not automatically make them a great photographer. A great photographer aims to capture images that have a lasting impression.
Model Portfolio Photo Shoot:
A model who is relaxed during a model photo session tends to create better images. Our professional photographer takes time to make sure a model feels her best from the time she walks into the studio. A professional make up artist will allow a model to present different looks and styles through creative make-up ideas. The make-up should match a models skin tone and help in bringing out the best features. Depending on the look a model is going for, whether it is fashion, glamour, artistic, or commercial our studio will work with a model, from beginner to experienced to create unique and individual look for a model portfolio making it stand out from the crowd and complementing the overall look.
How Does a Model Get Started in Magazines?
The key criteria for appearing in many of the men's magazines is that a model must be at least 18 years of age and be willing to appear nude. Although many images in these publications feature partial or implied (assumed) nudity, every woman who applies must be willing to pose nude.
Many magazines allow a model to appear in competitor's publications. The model may have previously appeared in a mainstream men's magazine such as Maxim, FHM, Stuff, etc. While some publications prefer that a model's first nude appearance is in their magazine, this is not a requirement. In fact, opportunities for a model are not limited by previous magazine appearance.
What is the Model Submission Process for Magazines?
The most popular submissions are for Playboy, Penthouse, Suicide Girls and Met-Art.com. BCD Studios will submit photos to the publication(s) of the model's choice. We will work with a model to create a shoot(s) that specifically addresses the need for one or many magazines to maximize her chances of selection and success. All shoots are targeted to maximize the model's exposure and the chance to be published.
What are the Requirements for a Model Shoot?
All models must be at least 18 years of age, or older, on the date of the shoot with two forms of ID to prove age (at least one must be a government issued ID with a photo). Completion of an application / bio and a release will be provided and are required at the time of the shoot.
Note: BCD Studios can help models with wardrobe selection, professional make-up application, hair styling and a submission ready photo packages.

Model Releases, 18 U.S.C. 2257 compliance, ID documents: All models who work for us are over 18 at the time of shooting. All models available for custom work sign model releases. We also scan their ID / Passports and are kept on file by the custodian of records. Webmasters: If your company doesn't provide a model release, we will use ours and send you a copy.
